Home Baking with Jane Asher Red Food Colouring


Everything in my Home Baking range is what I use at home and will make baking sweet and savoury recipes as good as they can be. When I was young, there was only ‘cochineal’ available to colour food: now almost any colour can be found, and red is probably the most essential. From red velvet cakes to Hallowe’en ‘blood’, there are a thousand uses for it. Definitely worth keeping some in the cupboard and I’ll be adding lots more food colours soon.

I would recommend starting with a very small amount - it’s easy to add more but not so easy to lessen the intensity once it’s there!
